Well this has been the first time that I have ever spoken on radio before and to be honest my career pathway should have ventured towards this direction for I have always been told that I have a head for radio…that’s good right?
I was honored to have received a phone call by ABC Northwest Radio presenter Joseph Dunstan asking if I would be interested in being interviewed for his morning show for he had read my story on this website and believed many of the listeners in the Northwest would benefit from hearing my story. When I say that I was honored, not like winning an Academy Award but for the opportunity to share my story with the great people of the North Western Australia. This was a great opportunity to reach out to more people that may be going through a stressful time at work and may take some benefit from the interview.
Although my anxiety had me feeling a little nervous during the days leading up to the interview, thinking about how I would present myself, I felt quite calm on the day. This was to do with my use of the strategies that I have learnt during my rehabilitation journey. Having my Occupational Therapist present and participating in this interview to provide some information to the listeners from an OT perspective also helped calm my nerves. Thanks Alison!
If you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to the interview, then please feel free by clicking on the link below. Thanks go out to ABC Radio North West and Joseph Dunstan for making this health & wellbeing awareness interview possible.
